FLDS

I believe the FLSD issue is interesting. On the one hand you have a group of people who are trying to live their religion without outside interference. On the other the religion condones the impregnation of underage girls by much older men. It also keeps its members ignorant by restricting the watching of TV, or using the Internet. I am sure they only have certain books they can read from, and only certain music they can listen to. What are they so afraid of their people learning? I think that keeping your following ignorant is the lowest form of leadership out there. Does the word totalitarian, tyrant, Taliban come to mind?

The FLDS descend from the same religion as the modern LDS church. They share the same beliefs in the Book of Mormon and Doctrine & Covenants. They wear garments. They practice plural marriage. The current LDS Church is desperate to point out their differences and distance themselves from this apostate cousin. Why is the current church so anxious to do this? Don't they have empathy for a religion that is trying to live a law that was so important to them in the past? Don't they remember the persecution their ancestors went through trying to live Polygamy? Maybe the church wants to distance themselves from something that reveals their own shared history with the FLDS, the fact that Joseph Smith married underage girls.
